SPRING CONCERT |
FC Band to entertain on Thursday, May 15
The Franklin Central High School Band will be presenting its annual Spring Concert on Thursday, May 15.
Beginning at 7 p.m. at the school, the band concert will include performances by the FCHS Jazz Band, as well as the accomplishments of the award-winning Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble.
The public is invited. Admission is free.

Center offering summer youth programs
The University of Indianapolis Community Music Center is offering a range of summer youth programs that allow students to study with professional musicians in piano, jazz, chamber music and vocal arts.
Summer Piano Camp I
Ages: 7-12
Dates: June 16-20, 9 a.m.-noon
Registration deadline: May 31
Cost: $135, includes tuition, music and T-shirt
Summer Piano Camp I, for beginning and intermediate players, is designed to expand private lesson instruction with classes in music theory and composition, music appreciation, ensemble playing and music movement.
Summer Piano Camp II
Ages: 13-18
Dates: July 28-August 1, all day with optional overnight housing
Registration deadline: May 1
Cost: $310, includes tuition, snacks, lunches and T-shirt; or $430, includes tuition, snacks, university housing, meals and T-shirt
Designed for advanced piano students, Summer Piano Camp II will include piano ensemble coaching, private lessons and interactive master classes, a sight playing workshop and a variety of music theory, music appreciation and special topic seminars. Students are divided into smaller groups based on age and ability.
Jazz Combo Camp
Ages: No age requirements; existing student ensembles are encouraged to apply as a group
Dates: June 23-27, all day with optional overnight housing
Registration deadline: June 1
Cost: $360 tuition; meals and housing available at additional cost
The Jazz Combo Camp offers student musicians of any age the opportunity to perform in small group settings under the direction of professional jazz musicians. The camp includes master classes, improvisation and listening classes, combo rehearsals and nightly concerts by professional jazz musicians. Students will be assigned to combos based on experience.
Chamber Music Institute
Ages: 14-18; piano, string, woodwind and brass instrumentalists may apply individually; existing student ensembles are encouraged to apply as a group
Dates: July 6-12, all day with optional overnight housing
Registration deadline: May 19
Cost: $305 tuition; meals and housing available at additional cost
The Chamber Music Institute allows young musicians to collaborate with other students under the guidance of professional musicians and instructors, including UIndy faculty and musicians from the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra. The institute includes master classes, ensemble coaching, individual practice time and private lessons.
Vocal Arts Institute
Ages: High school students; admission by audition only
Dates: July 17-28, all day with optional overnight housing
Registration deadline: May 31
Cost: Resident - $959, includes tuition, housing and meals
Nonresident - $720, includes tuition and meals
The Vocal Arts Institute, designed for high school students, explores the art of solo performance through classical repertoire, folksong and musical theater. Students will receive individual attention through private lessons and daily master classes. The institute also includes classes in movement, sight singing and theory, and students will learn the International Phonetic Alphabet. In addition, students will present several performances, both on and off campus.

FC SHOW CHOIR GOLF OUTING |
Second annual fundraiser Saturday, May 17
The second annual Franklin Central Show Choir golf outing is scheduled for Saturday, May 17, at Valle Vista Golf Course in Greenwood.
The event to benefit Franklin Central show choirs - F.C. Singers and High Voltage - will feature four-person teams, with a shotgun start planned for 2 p.m.
The entry fee is $65 per person and includes:

- Cart
- Drinks
- Dinner
- Prizes & awards
