Flashes' play not reflected by tally at Pike

The Franklin Central girls' tennis team played competitive tennis at Pike on Thursday, May 1, but coming close on this particular afternoon failed to translate into any team points as the Red Devils posted a 5-0 Conference Indiana victory.

FC's No. 1 doubles duo of seniors Kelsey Pieratt and Jackie Schmaltz and the Flashes' senior Katie Oldknow at No. 2 singles extended their opponents to three sets. Senior Heather Summitt at No. 3 singles dropped a tough 7-6 (9-7) opening-set tiebreaker.

Singles results:

  • No. 1 - FC senior Angela DeCamp was beaten 6-1, 6-2.
  • No. 2 - Oldknow lost 6-2, 4-6, 6-4.
  • No. 3 - Summitt fell 7-6 (907), 6-3.

Doubles results:

  • No. 1 - Pieratt-Schmaltz were defeated 6-2, 2-6, 6-2.
  • No. 2 - Senior Brittney Muston and sophomore Rachelle Smith were on the bottom end of 6-2, 6-4 readings.
