Franklin Central's baseball team started plating runs from the get-go on Tuesday, April 29, with the Flashes outmatching visiting Batesville 11-1 in an abbreviated non-conference contest.

FC tallied a pair of runs in each of the first three innings, then added five more counters in the bottom of the fifth frame to bring the game to a halt in compliance with the 10-run rule.

Contributors to Franklin Central's seventh victory in its last eight outings were many:

** FC seniors were prominent with Heath Humbert, Tyler Presley, Austin Tielking and Tommy Winders each stroking a pair of hits.

** Run producers were plentiful with junior Sean Winter sending three runners across home plate and Presley and Winders two apiece. Senior Evan Kinney, junior Jake Hartley and Tielking each drove in one run.

** Extra-base hits were prevalent with Winders belting a triple and double, junior Brock Griffin stroking a three-base blow and Presley and Tielking each adding two-baggers.

Hartley and sophomore Adam Foltz combined to pitch a three-hitter, with Foltz hurling the final three innings to collect his first varsity victory. Hartley whiffed four of the seven Batesville batters he faced while yielding one hit and walking none during his two-inning stint.

The Bulldogs scored their lone run in the top of the third stanza.

The victory boosted Franklin Central's season record to 9-6. The Flashes will return to the East Athletic Fields Complex on Wednesday, April 30, at 5 p.m. to face Greenwood in a non-conference affair that was rescheduled from Monday, April 28, due to rain.
